#1 in Secured Property Tax Collections and #1 in Safety, Liquidity &Yield of Public Funds Among Peers
SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Office of the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector is pleased to announce that Treasurer Shari Freidenrich has been named one of the L.A. Times Studios Business Magazine’s 2025 Banking and Finance Visionaries. The award recognizes individuals who are impacting change in the financial industry through innovative strategies and forward-thinking leadership.
As an Orange County Banking and Finance Visionary of 2025, Freidenrich was selected by the LA Times Studios executive committee based on her recognized success and accomplishments. Since her first term as Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector in 2010, Freidenrich has implemented new common-sense, cost-effective and efficient processes and innovative programs that have saved taxpayers more than $1 billion. These strategies and enhanced processes have earned the office the number one ranking in collecting secured property taxes among all 58 counties in California, with a secured property tax collection rate of 99.2% in fiscal year 2023-24. Under her leadership, the office has increased the collection rate by 1.5%. In addition, Freidenrich’s office ranks in the top four California counties for her stewardship of pooled funds, delivering a pool yield at 4.246%, while maintaining a 0.9944% NAV (Net Asset Value) and is also top ranked as of 12-31-24 for safety, liquidity and yield out of seven large peer counties.

Throughout her career serving as the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector for the last 15 years, along with her previous success as Huntington Beach Treasurer and her early-career in the private sector at both Boeing and Deloitte, Freidenrich has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, ethical values and integrity. “My common-sense changes, fiscal responsibility, and history delivering open, transparent, and accountable leadership has helped streamline operations and produced significant savings for Orange County taxpayers,” said Freidenrich. As a highly credentialed elected official in Treasury and public fund investing, Freidenrich is a CPA with more than 28 years of experience investing public funds, a leader in the State as a Treasury official elected by her peers as the President of the California Municipal Treasurer’s Association, elected as the President of the Association of Public Treasurers of the US and Canada, and most recently, elected as the President of the California Association of the County Treasurers and Tax Collectors.
