Credit Card/Debit Card Service Fees

The Treasurer-Tax Collector accepts VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card for payment of taxes. A service fee (increased as of 5-1-25) for credit and debit cards applies to the transaction amount as follows: 2.30% for consumer cards, 2.57% for commercial cards, or 3.95% for international cards, with a minimum charge of $1.50 for credit cards, and a minimum charge of $1.95 for debit cards. Debit card payments at the County Service Center in person will be charged a flat fee of $2.95 for transactions over $100 and $1.50 for transactions under $100. These fees are charged by the current credit card processor. The County of Orange does not benefit in any way from the fee. The Tax Collector is negotiating a lower single blended credit card rate expected to be effective on or before October 1, 2025.

For example, if your tax amount is $500.00, the total charge to your credit card is computed as follows:
